DOES YOUR YARD HAVE THE WINTER BLUES?
Get over those winter blues by getting your yard ready for summer now.
Spring cleaning is not only for the inside of the home. Making this the perfect time to get underway with flowerbeds and your yard.
Make a clean sweep of your planting beds. Get rid of the winter debris, trim the dead branches. Clear off that top layer of soil. Pull weeds and fluff that mulch so plants can come up through.
Don’t over prune those roses, budding plants or hydrangeas.
Fertilize, spread mulch where needed to protect those roots. A layer of mulch does several jobs, it insulates, adds moisture and makes everything look polished. Don’t over mulch, too much can act as a water repellent. Two to four inches is the optimum amount.
The Yard…
Don’t scrap the yard April, May or June is the perfect months to aerate and over seed. Wait til rainy season is over you don’t want the ground to be to soft and moist, but make sure you do it before the ground is to hard from high heat because the seeds won’t sprout in high heat.
