Did you know that 2020 is a Leap Year?
Leap year is the practice of adding an extra day to the calendar as a corrective measure. It actually takes longer than 365 days for the earth to orbit the sun. To be precise it takes 365 days, 5 hours, 48 minutes, and 46 seconds. If we let those extra hours build up over a few hundred years it could change when our seasons begin.
Leap year usually occurs every 4 years with some exceptions. Years that you can divide by 4 are leap years, except for years that exactly divisible by 100. For example the years 1700, 1800, and 1900 were not leap years, but 1600 and 2000 were. Leap day is named after the Arch Bishop of York ST. Oswald, who died on February 29, 992.
